AWS to Azure Migration

Migrate from AWS to Azure with Addend Analytics!

Addend Analytics - Microsoft Azure Partnership
Amazon Web Services (AWS) & Microsoft Azure are two of the most well-known cloud computing providers. However, several features are unique to each vendor, as well as a few major benefits, that are driving enterprises to migrate from AWS to Azure. If you are one of those companies looking to migrate to Azure, then you have landed at the right place! Addend Analytics has done multiple migrations and there are few important aspects to consider while migrating from AWS to Azure, including vendor lock-in, data portability, and availability model changes. Addend Analytics’ certified Microsoft Azure experts can help you in this journey!

Key Benefits of migrating to Azure

Hybrid cloud capabilities
Azure’s technologies for connecting on-premises data centres to the cloud are tried and true. Because it uses the SMB protocol, Azure File Storage, for example, is ideal for lift and shift migrations.

Easier On-boarding
Azure is thought to be easier to use than AWS, especially for existing Microsoft users, because it provides numerous services through a PaaS paradigm, making adoption and migration easier. Even though AWS offers a wealth of alternatives and over 100 cloud services, learning the environment and becoming productive can take some time.
Azure Site Recovery (ASR)
Azure Site Recovery (ASR) allows for fully automatic workload migration to Azure. Additionally, utilizing Microsoft Azure backup services, your organization can simply back up data from any Windows device, On-premises or in Azure, to cloud storage.
Azure Migration
Strong Native Support for Microsoft Products
If you or your clients make extensive use of Microsoft products like Windows or Office 365, Azure is a natural choice.

Key Steps to AWS to Azure Migration

Prepare Azure Resources

You must build up infrastructure components on Azure to prepare for your applications to be transferred to Azure. You'll start by creating a Site Recovery vault, which will serve as the starting point for all your ASR adventures. To deploy two IaaS VMs in Azure, the configuration server and master target server, follow the Quick Start Wizard's instructions. To deploy these components on Azure, follow the procedures for setting up protection between on-premises physical servers and Azure.

Prepare AWS resources

You'll need to set up an EC2 instance to execute the process server. When deploying the process server, keep the process server sizing guidelines in mind. The process server requires access to the AWS VMs that execute your application, which is why it's best if it's in the same subnet as the VMs you're migrating. To communicate with the process server, the VMs you're migrating must have security group settings that enables inbound connections on TCP and UDP ports 135-139, 445, and 1024-65535. You're ready to continue to the next step once you've completed this step and registered your process server with the settings server.

Discover & “Protect” AWS VMs in Azure

You can now start exploring your virtual machines on AWS. Create a protection group first, and then use the "add physical machine" method to identify all the EC2 instances you want to transfer to Azure. You may find them using the EC2 instance's private IP address, and you also have the option of giving them a pleasant name that you can refer to later. All the VMs you identified in the previous step will begin to replicate to Azure after this step is completed. Depending on the size of the virtual machines, network capacity, and process server, this could be a lengthy procedure. You're ready to migrate once this initial replication is complete.

Migrate your application with one-click!

This is where you do a one-click failover and transfer your application to Azure. Because these resources are no longer required, make sure to destroy your EC2 instances and stop ASR protection.
