Issue:
Last year I had written a blog on bringing QuickBook’s General Ledger in Power BI as it was not returned by the default QBO connector. In that blog, we used a workaround code to call GL in Power BI. This code uses the syntax of the old connector to bring all the tables that were available in that connector. We recently noticed that, similar to the new connector, the old connector started throwing the same script error as well. I have talked about the script error & the solution for the new connector in this blog.
If you know about the solution to the earlier script error, you know that we need to change the authorization screen for the new connector to any Chromium-based browser. After some digging, I found another set of variables that we need to add to our local system.
Troubleshooting:
Follow the steps below to change the default authorization screen for QuickBook’s old connector (Skip directly to Item 3 if the solution’s been already implemented for the default connector):
- Download and Install the new Edge Chromium browser, (at least beta) from https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/download
- In your system,
Open Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Advanced -> Environment variables. - Under ‘System Variables’,
Click New -> Set Variable name as PQ_ExtendEdgeChromiumOAuthAllowList and Variable value as Quickbooks -> Click OK
You should now be able to get access QuickBook’s old connector in Power BI.
