Hello reader, welcome to the first blog of the Power BI – Tips, Tricks & Best Practices series. In this blog, we will see how to make a shape unclickable.

Let’s understand the issue first. To create our Power BI report more interactive for the users, we must create multiple views using bookmark. But if the bookmarks are not configured properly, it will lose out end user’s interest.

Below is the report, where in we have created the bookmarks for the buttons in the left.

Sometimes, what happened is when you try to click on the buttons you will see the background shape(shaded) will not let you click on the button.

You will see something like in the image below,

You will not be able to see/select any buttons.

Now, to get rid of this issue we have to make the shape which we are using in the breakgound unclickable.
There is a feature named as “Maintain Layer Order” is available in the format option under the General section of all the visuals.

We have to turn it “On” & move the visual to the back from the Format section of the ribbon.

This will make your background shape unclickable. I hope you will find this blog helpful.
