Pretty recently, on October 1, ’20, Microsoft launched Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2020 Wave 2. For the ones who are uninitiated on the Business Central upgrade, Microsoft plans and launches two big releases each year: Wave 1 falls in April, followed by Wave 2 in October— Monthly improvements and bug fixes are taken care of in between.
We have been analyzing the advanced release notes (a comprehensive communication of what is expected to come with the next major release, normally distributed 2 – 3 months before the actual launch) and checking the new features in the preview application. Here are some of the advancements that we are most optimistic about in Wave 2.
Improved overview and control of the accessible database and file capacity
It has become much simpler for system administrators to get a rundown of the database and the file space available for their dynamics 365 business central Ecosystems. Not only will this enhance your system management, but the analysis is also vital if the database you are trying to manage is huge: Dynamics 365 business central’s standard database is restricted to 80 GB, which is often a revelation to customers, particularly those that upgrade from NAV on-site. Feature Management to Manage data update of the application features
Microsoft has continued to provide system administrators with more leverage over-regulating their environments. This functionality would empower admins to monitor while reaping the benefits of features that need a data update. As an administrator, having a window to verify something that results in a data update before it affects one’s production ecosystem is relevant— at the very least, to prevent any interruption during operation.
Apprise users of high-risk updates in chosen setup fields
Once available, this improvement is going to be pretty useful – when the attributes in the Configuration tables are updated, administrators will be informed by email, and they can determine whether the change makes sense and is legit. Of course, users can not change values frequently in the setup tables, and this privilege would be restricted to a very limited number of people.
This particular change isn’t up yet and is expected anytime during the monthly update before the end of the year. It appears to be related to email improvements that are not yet deployed.
All in all, in 2020 release wave 2, Microsoft is shifting the emphasis towards evolving the consistency and usability of existing productivity features, while ensuring that clients are accessible to their diverse community of users.
